A full rewire can feel like a sensible investment in the fabric of a home; it can also look like an alarming bill arriving just when the walls, floors and decorations are finally in good shape. I have always found that contrast difficult to ignore. The work is largely hidden once it is finished, yet the disruption is impossible to miss while it is happening.
